THE SLEUTHSAYER
Frustrated by the outcome of the last Presidential election and the absence of
Communism, radical conservative groups headed by the Jerry Falwells, Donald Wildmons
and the {dis}like have had to concoct a new boogeyman to spur fundraising efforts:
namely nudity. And, like pro-Choice physicians who've Gauged the caliber of increasingly
desperate abortion opponents, it's made sponsors gun shy.
As Hollywood's leading lensman Greg Gorman laments: "I love shooting nudes.
But, they are not applicable for ads in this country. In Europe, nudes are used
for fragrance campaigns, water ads, etc. But here, there are very few campaigns
where that's allowed." Wasn't that in part what the last campaign was all
about?
Gorman finds that "European celebrities are much more relaxed and much less
uptight"—which helps explain why twelve of our "25 Sexiest Woman
of 1994" come from a-broad! With the disrobed diversity you've come to expect
from Sleuth, this comely contingent comprises: three each from Italy, England
and France; an awesome Aussie, juicy German and sizzling Spaniard; plus one Black,
one Hispanic, and one Black Hispanic {Rosie Perez). The remaining ten native-born
nudes are evenly divided between redheads {4}, blondes {3) and brunettes {3}.
Of these, five are actresses, five are models. On balance, then we think we've
brought the New Year in perfectly....
That view is confirmed by a recent "nationwide telephone survey" conducted
by the widely read Startabloid to choose "The 10 Sexiest Women Alive."
The results were as follows: 1. Kim Basinger {40% of the total vote); 2. Demi
Moore {37%}; 3. Cindy Crawford (30% but #1 in our hearts); 4. Whitney Houston
and Jaclyn Smith {tied at 28%}; 6. Princess Diana 126%1; 7. Sharon Stone {"surprising
low at 24%"}; 8. Nicollette Sheridan 120%1; 9. Halle Berry (17%); and 10.
model Rachel Hunter {15%}. Not surprisingly to Sleuth devotees, ALL but the last
of these "Top Ten" Temptresses have already been uncovered in our pages...while
sultry Mrs. Stewart (Rod's ravishing Rachel) inset to debut in "Hot Flashers
2!"—coming in June.
In closing, foxy feminist Naomi Wolf recently reaffirmed our enduring eroticism in the No-Sex Nineties by declaring: "Many of you men are astonished—half-distrustful, half-elated—to discover that we women still actually want you anyway. Not for your paychecks but for your company; for the sex; for the laughs. 'You mean I don't have to chop it, fuck it, burn it, beat it at squash, or prorate it for cost-effectiveness?' That's right, dude—just look after it." Will do....
