THE SLEUTHSAYER
"The audience always wants to dream about superstars," explained designer
Valentino on the eve of dressing several of this year's Academy Award nominees
for the ceremony. "So they should give them what they crave. Stars have begun
to understand that their image at the Oscars transmits their personal taste for
the ultimate dream of fans." And, since ourfans' personal taste tends towards
undressing the nubile nominees, we've dreamed up another "Anatomy Awards"
special!
"The Oscar campaigns being waged in 1996 are perhaps not as active or flashy
as they have been in years past," observed the popular "Dateline Hollywood"
syndicated column. "So the goodies may not be as good this year Manna bet?}.
Most years, you hear how the pickings are slim in certain categories, usually
in the Best Actress and Best Supporting Actress categories." Slim chance,
since our sixth foray into the field uncovers the straight skinny on nine of the
ten Best Actress and Supporting Actress nominees for '96 {including winners Susan
Sarandon and covergirl Mira Sorvino}...with Joan Allen being the lone hold out.
In other words, {Pat} Nixon's the One!
In our six editions, we've undressed 240 Academy Awardees—quite a lifetime
achievement since there have been fewerthan 300 female Oscar recipients in history!
And the thrill is farfrom gone: As Tom Flanks gushed backstage after winning his
second consecutive Best Actor prize in '95, "The blood running through my
head at the time was just as ferocious this year as it was last...The moment is
not diminished just by having been there before." We hard-ly think our loyal
Sleuth members will feel differently.
"It's just one night," observed In Style's Oscar issue, "but the
images last forever" {especially when coupled under one Sleuth}. As previous
presenter Rosie O'Donnell quipped: "Look at me, I'm on the Academy Awards.
Can you believe it? I've got the dress. I've the jewels. I've got the breasts
{we've got 90 of 'ern}. And they all have to be back by midnight." Whereas,
"The Anatomy Awards 6" is yours to keep.
Without Gilt,
