When a decade ends, it's inevitable that the media are flooded with retrospectives and predictions. We're joining in the fun. Our fond memories of the Eighties include publication of Playboy's very first Book of Lingerie in 1984. Interest in intimate apparel hibernated during the bra-burning Seventies but has turned into a buying
frenzy in the last ten years. Garter belts, corsets and bustiers became big news; department store racks began to display patterns and colors reaching beyond faithful
black, white and pink; unusual fabrics-such as lame, flannel and leather-became
legitimate companions to satin and lace as lingerie materials. We felt duty-bound
to help spread the news and commenced publishing our Lingerie books six times
a year. The Nineties will see no slack in this pace; we will continue our quest
to showcase incomparable women wearing both classic and innovative lingerie. Lovely
